ANDERSON - Heather Anne Aitken Peele, 54, of Shore Line Drive, wife of James E. Peele, died Friday, May 24, 2013.
Born August 26, 1958 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late John and Phyllis Calvert Aitken. She was a homemaker and former office coordinator at First Baptist Church, Anderson. Heather was a member of Electric City Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband, James Peele of the home; son, Tyler J. Peele of the home; brother, Chet Aitken of Canada; sisters, Janice Aitken of Canada and Laura Chalmers of Newnan, GA; brother-in-law, Carl Eugene Peele of St. George; mother-in-law, Margaret Sheider Peele of Holly Hill; nieces, Lisa, Erin, and Brianna; and nephews, Bryan, David, and Cole.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson, conducted by Howard Murphy. The family will receive friends at the mortuary following the service.

ANDERSON, SC -David Tillman Vincent, age 53, of Anderson, husband of Kim Kvalheim Vincent, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Union, SC, he was the son of the late Willie Tillman Vincent and Sara Gregory Cooley.
Mr. Vincent worked for many years in the textiles industries, having worked several years with Carolina Dye Works. He loved and was devoted to his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will leave behind many family and friends who loved and will miss him, especially his beloved dog, Romo
He is survived by his wife; son, Jason Vincent and his wife Leslee of Iva, SC; step-daughter, Candice Holmes and her husband, Jay of Iva, SC; brothers, Tommy Vincent of Spartanburg, John Willard of Anderson; five grandchildren, Jayden, Mackenzie and Camryn Vincent, and Morgen Laila Holmes.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

ANDERSON - Vernelle Sorrow Blair Harris, 75, wife of Claude Earl Harris, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1938 in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Ben James and Maggie Inez King Sorrow. She was a retired employee of Owens-Corning Fiberglass with over 36 years service. Mrs. Harris was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Earl Harris of the home; two daughters, Linda Guynelle Roberson and husband, Donald, and Debra Lynn Pearson and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Amy Michelle Landrith and her fiance, Roger Dale Bagwell; grandson, Brandon Neal Barton, all of Anderson; brother, Floyd Ray Sorrow and wife, Macie of Lincolnton, NC; sisters, Evelyn Sullivan of Fair Play, Mildred Davis and husband, Ray of Anderson, Betty Virginia Long and husband, Haskell of Westminster, and Maxie Palmer and friend, W.L. Moon of Townville; her best friend, Joe Turner and wife, Brenda of Anderson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Guy Blair and two sons, Lamar Blair and Randy Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakdale Baptist Church conducted by Dr. David Blizzard and Rev. Larry Stancil. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence.

ANDERSON - Clara Lou Moore Arflin, 85, of the Zion Community, widow of Ernest Clay Arflin, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born November 13, 1927 in the Zion Community of Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Fletch Anderson and Lula Gambrell Moore. She was a graduate of Pendleton High School and was retired from Dr. John Young's Dental Office in Pendleton. Mrs. Arflin was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Arflin and wife, Judy of Walhalla; two grandchildren, Tanya Massey (Josh) of Stillwater, OK and Chris Arflin of Townville; two step-grandchildren, Brent Smith (Jill) and Alison Bibb (Mike) of Walhalla; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Richey, Joyce Davis, and Becky Walters (Glenn), all of Anderson; one brother, Fletch A. Moore, Jr. (Ann) of Greer; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Moore of Anderson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Tabor Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Sheriff. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the home of her sister, Becky and Glenn Walters, 1001 Providence Church Road, Anderson.

ANDERSON, SC -Hilda Harris Bonds Geer, age 90, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Lowndesville, she was the daughter of the late Allen Mason Bonds and the late Annie Gertrude Campbell Bonds. She graduated from Iva High School and attended Forrest College. She retired in 1985 as the office manager in the Micro-Biology Department at Clemson University. She was a loving wife and mother and was very dedicated to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hilda was a very Godly woman, a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson and was a member of the Blanche Holcombe Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Pace Setters Square Dancers and enjoyed her yard and flowers.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Francis “Frank” Geer, Sr. of the home; a son, William F. “Bill” Geer and his wife, Judy of Clemson; two daughters, Wendy Geer Pedrick and her husband, Roger, of Anderson, and Trudy G. Simpson Edwards of Boiling Springs; five grandchildren, Mahalie Milstead and her husband, Ben; Rodd Pedrick and his wife, Amy, Eric Pedrick, Scott Simpson, Jr. and his wife, Nikki, and Shannon Simpson; and seven great-grandchildren, Brenden, Collin, Trey, John Landon, Ethan Matthew, Madyson and Logan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dan, Carroll and Wade Bonds; and two sisters, Ellen Cowan and Mary Bonds.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

ANDERSON, SC -James “Spence” Anderson, age 69, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late John Herman Anderson and the late Viola Nix Anderson. He was a 1962 graduate of Boys High. He worked with Seabrooke Inc. for over 18 years before starting his own business at Anderson and Sons Textile. He was a member of the Tri City Rods and Custom Car Club. He was an avid lover and builder of street rod cars, and was a member of the NSRA. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Whittington Anderson, of the home; a son, Eric S. Anderson of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Robin Leopard and her husband, John, of Anderson; a brother, Otis H. Anderson and his wife, Norma, of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Mildred Cartee and her husband, Bill, of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Nathan and his wife Cierra Leopard, Kyle and his wife Angel Anderson and Brent Leopard; one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Reece Anderson; and one soon-to-be great-grandson, Bentley James Leopard
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Otis Reginald Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

LOWNDESVILLE, SC -Wiley Frank Harvey, age 90, of Lowndesville, SC passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at his home.
Born in Littleton, NC, he was the son of the late Wiley F. Harvey, Sr. and the late Blanche Cooley Harvey. Frank started as a welder in his youth. He attended trade school in Columbia and upon returning home he worked various jobs in welding. He was drafted in the army in the early 40’s and was sent to Fort Bragg. While in the army he was active in the military police and boxed, earning a Golden Glove Championship. Frank married Mrs. Runette Harvey on a two day pass from the army in 1942. He worked in the Shipyard in Charleston and later worked for the Tourno Plant in Toccoa as a welder. In the 50’s he worked for Rock River Mills and Abbeville Mills. In the late 60’s he went to work for Duke Power Nuclear Plant and ultimately retired from Mohawk Plant in Calhoun Falls, SC.. He was a devout cockfighter since the 1950’s.
He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Harvey Smith of greater Atlanta and Anne Harvey Rogers of Commerce, GA; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hall Harvey, of Abbeville, SC; two grandchildren, Collin Brent and his wife, Jan Harvey of Starr, and Alicia Joy Harvey of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Jana Harvey and Thomas Harvey; and his faithful companion “Apollo”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Runette P. Harvey; a son, Thomas Frank Harvey; and a sister, Barbara Harvey Whittum
The Funeral Service will be held at Smyrna United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Scotty Willoughby and Reverend Eric Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Spires, Troy Spires, Alan Beusse, Ronnie Addison, Mac McCalla and Eldridge Hanna.
The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:30 PM, prior to the service.

TOWNVILLE, SC -Mary Tinsley LeCroy, age 91, wife of the late Arthur Otto LeCroy, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Belton, SC she was the daughter of the late Elzie Thomas Tinsley and the late Willie Lee Scott Tinsley. She was retired from the J.P. Stevens Plant, in Clemson, SC. Following a career in textiles, Mary became a caregiver to several families in the Anderson area. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her children; son, Tony Reese LeCroy and his wife, Janice of Anderson, SC; daughter, Juanita L. Gambrell and her husband, Dale of Greenwood, SC; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas LeCroy; daughter, Vickie Ann LeCroy; sister, Jewel Tinsley Bailey.
The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at their respective homes.

ANDERSON, SC -William R. Ford,”Pops”, age 86, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Charlie Isaiah Ford and the late America Stanton Ford. He was a graduate of Williamston High School. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart resulting specifically from hostile action. Bill was a member of the VFW and an avid Nascar fan. He retired as a mechanic.
He is survived by his five sons, Earle, Billy, Dale, Kenny and Tony Ford; a daughter, Linda Purdy; a brother, Martin Ford; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Marie Thomason Ford; and his siblings, John Ford, Helen Perry, Annie Mae Klinger and Franklin Ford.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by The Upstate Veterans Honor Guard at 2:30 PM with Reverend Micky Gambrell officiating.

Frank Jacky, Jr., age 81, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank Jacky. and the late Helen Polny Jacky. He graduated from Jefferson High School in New Jersey. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an engineer at the Singer Plant for 46 years. In 1973, he moved to Anderson, where he continued to work for the Singer Plant as the Senior Manufacturing Engineer. He was an avid bowler, where he played in leagues in both New Jersey and Anderson. Frank enjoyed golf, sailing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Rivera Jacky, of the home; four sons, Robert Jacky and his wife Robin of Anderson, Frank J. Jacky of Anderson, Thomas Jacky and his wife Anita of Charlotte, NC, and David Jacky and his wife Stephanie of Davidson, NC, a sister, Deloris Surma of Rahway, NJ; and seven grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ignatius Smith, OFM officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will be at the residence. There will be a prayer vigil at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 6:30 PM, the family will receive friends following the vigil until 8:30 PM.

Mrs. Helen Joyce LeGendre Burriss, age 90, of 1202 Stratford Drive, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Birmingham, AL, she was the daughter of the late Charles Dallas LeGendre and the late Helen Middleton LeGendre. For 69 years, Mrs. Burriss was the loving and devoted wife of Dr. William Mack Burriss of the home.
Following high school graduation, Mrs. Burriss studied home economics at Auburn University. It was there that she met the special man in her life, Mack Burriss. Helen was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Presbyterian Women’s organization. She loved gardening and toll painting. Helen was an excellent cook, hostess, seamstress, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who know and love her.
In addition to her husband, Dr. Mack Burriss, survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Burriss Chamblee of Anderson; 3 grandchildren, Lauren Chamblee Heaton, Janet Chamblee Martin, and Wendy Chamblee; 4 great-grandchildren, Rylan Heaton, McKinley Martin, Blakely Martin, and Caden Hicks; and 2 cousins, Margie Ubele of Atlanta and Tommy Langley of New Orleans. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burriss was preceded in death by a son, Charles Douglas Burriss, who died in 1986.
A Graveside Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Helen Burriss will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 10 AM at Old Silver Brook Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. David J. Bailey officiating. The family will be at the residence and will visit with friends and family at Old Silver Brook following the service.

ANDERSON, SC -Larry Neal. Whitlock, 54, husband of Sharon Branyon Whitlock, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Jack Whitlock and the late Vernell Hubbard Whitlock. He was a graduate of Westside High School. Larry formerly worked in the men’s department at Hamrick’s. He was a member of North Anderson Baptist Church, where he had served as the Senior Adult & Children’s Minister. He also volunteered at Whitehall Elementary School currently serving as the PTO president. Larry enjoyed serving and caring for others especially his family.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Branyon Whitlock, of the home; son, Daniel Branyon of Anderson; daughter, Kristina Whitlock also of the home; one granddaughter, Rylee Branyon.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with the Reverend Bill Rigsby officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The PTO members & Staff of Whitehall Elementary School will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
