Burton Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Meiba Louisa Harkness Jensen Beckstead, passed away July 21, 1993. Bom January 3, 1905 in Salt Lake to William D. and Louisa Kilpack Harkness. Married Reuben Victor Jensen on November 28, 1923 in Salt Lake City, marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 24, 1924. He passed away on May 25, 1937.

Married Ivies LeCompte Beckstead on January 25, 1943. He passed away on June 15, 1955. Melba was a faithful member of the LDS Church and dedicated her lifa to the love, care and service of others. She was a devoted visiting teacher, and was greatty loved by all who knew her. She dearly loved her family, as they did love her.

She was the mother of three children, Frank Victor (June) Jensen (he preceded her in death), Murray; Lavon Melba Jensen, Mountain Green; Dale Rulon (Maxine) Jensen, Midvale; brother, Calvin La Var Harkness, Parley's Summit; sisters, Alberta West, Salt Lake; and Dorothy Losser, Hurricane; also surviving are 26 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchiidren; and four great-great-grandchildren, who all loved her beyond words. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in 1942 and a medical degree from the Temple University Salt Lake City physi19, 1993 after a School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1945. Dr. Burton completed an Internship at the jersey City Medical Center, a Residency at the Skin and Cancer Hospital in Philadelphia, and a Fellowship in Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Burton was a member of the Babcock Honorary Surgical Society of Temple University School of Medicine, Phi Beta Pi medical fratemity, American Academy of Dermatology, Salt Lake County Medical Society, Utah State Medical Society, Pacific Dermatologic Association and American Medical Association. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He practiced medicine in Salt Lake City for several years until he retired due to poor health. He served in the Army Medical Coips during World War Il.

He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Saints, serving in several positions including Emigration Stake Young Men's Presidency. His courage and long suffering have been an inspiration to his wife, children, grandchildren and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife; a daughter and two sons, Karen B. Miner (Paul), Salt Lake City; Scott D. Burton (Lynn), Salt Lake City; Richard A.

Burton (Emmy), Washington, D.C., and 11, his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, a sister, Jeanne B. Ralph and a brother, Dr. Truman Y. Burton.

Her father, young life was spent on grandfather, her lather's ranch in friend, David L. Ericksen, beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming. At age 20, she married her sweetheart, Neils H.

Tum Hansen, for time and eternity in the Logan Temple on June 25, 1924. He passed away in 1979. They had six children, Jay (Peggy). She had a great knowledge of the Gospel and loved to share it with those around her. She managed the Governor's Man- sion for Governors Blood, Maw, and Lee, and later managed the Town Club. A member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, where she served three terms as captain of Camp Eleven and was listed in the Enduring Legacy.

She was an inspiration to all who knew her for her enduring strength and service to others and was greatly loved by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (Milton Rigby, St. George, Utah; Orlene (C. Edmund) White, Whittier, LaRean (Donald) Kinder, Clovis, Calif: LaRae N. Zimpfer, Midvale; Beth (Glenn) Martin, Pheian, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchilden, and two greatgreat-grandchildren.

Served as a Woods Cross City Councilman for 24 years. Worked for Phillips Petroleum Company, Woods Cross, for 37 years. WRIGHT, Renee and Chad, son, July 22, Jordan Valley Hospital, West Valley City. Mary H. Larsen Mary Hortense Larsen, 87, passed away July 21, 1993, natural causes in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born September 8, 1905, in Ephraim, Utah, the daughter of Andrew Adelberf and Clara Lorentze Larsen Anderson.

Married J. Howard Larsen, July 3, 1924, in Ephraim. He preceded her in death, November 29, 1987. Mother and Dad were sweethearts for 63 years. They were involved in farming and turkey ranching in Sanpete and Salt Lake Counties most of their lives.

Their oldest son, Bobby, the twin of Betty, was kilied at Iwo Jima during World War in 1945. Mother was past president of Gold Star Mothers. She and Dad were a strong, loving couple. She was a good mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Family was everything to Mother and Dad.

Survived by sons and daughters: John D. (Joyce) Larsen, Sandy; Paul S. (Vicky) Larsen, Holladay; Betty (Harry) Fike, Pennsylvania; Beverly A. (Ron) Carhart, Holladay; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; brothers and sisters; and a son.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 26, 2 p.m., in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue and Street. Maretta married Frank Lambert Van Fleet in 1936 and later divorced. In 1950 she married Daniel Lawrence Miller. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Maretta worked at Davis County Court House, Lagoon, Farmington Drug and Keith O'Brien's, Bountiful, from which she retired.

She greatly treasured her friends from work. She was actively involved in various church callings. Her love was working with Young Women on both a ward and stake basis. She was a great wife, outstanding mother, and the epitome of a grandmother. Her family and home were her love.

She was an accomplished seamstress and exquisite cook. She is survived by her husband, children: Deanna Hutchison, Idaho; Robert (Glenda) Van Fleet, Linda (Jim) Housley, Oregon; Jay Dell Miller, Salt Lake City: Rick (Jolin) Miller, Fruit Heights; Vickie (Weston) Butterfield, Bountiful; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother, Bill Higgs. She was a very sweet and loving person to all who knew her. Active in the LDS Church, serving Salt Lake City of natural in the YWMIA, Relief So- ciety, Single Adults. A dedicated visiting teacher. George V. Stevenson LAYTON, Utah--George age 79, passed away July in Layton of congestive heart failure. George was born September 8, 1913 in Layton, Utah to John David and Mable Van Fleet Stevenson. He married Wanda Scoffield May 2, 4937 in Bountiful, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

George was educated in the Davis County schools and the Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He was a successful farmer, devoting fession in Layton, Utah. Our beloved mother touched the lives of many outside of her home, but her truly great work was in her devotion to her family.

She gave comfort, strenth and interest to each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, even to her last day on earth. Her family was her treasure and each one felt it. We will miss this noble woman.
